Soit α un nombre strictement positif. Le problème viscoélastique monodimensionnel

$$u_{\mathrm{tt}}-{\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xx}}-\alpha {\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xxt}}=\mathrm{f},\mathrm{x}\in (-\infty ,0],\mathrm{t}\in [0,+\infty ),$$

avec les conditions au bord unilatérales

$$\mathrm{u}(0,·)⩾0,({\mathrm{u}}_x+\alpha {\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xt}})(0,·)⩾0,\left(\mathrm{u}({\mathrm{u}}_x+\alpha {\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xt}})\right)(0,·)=0,$$

peut être réduit à l'inéquation variationnelle suivante :

$${\lambda }_1*\mathrm{w}=\mathrm{g}+\mathrm{b},\mathrm{w}⩾0,\mathrm{b}⩾0,\langle \mathrm{w},\mathrm{b}\rangle =0.$$

Ici ${\widehat{\lambda }}_1\left(\omega \right)$ est la détermination causale de $\mathrm{i}\omega \sqrt{1+\mathrm{i}\alpha \omega }$. On démontre que ce problème possède une solution et que les pertes d'énergie sont purement visqueuses ; ce résultat provient de la relation $\langle \dot{w},\mathrm{b}\rangle =0$, qui n'est pas triviale puisque, a priori, b est une mesure et $\dot{w}$ n'est définie que presque partout.

Abstract

Let α be a positive number. The one-dimensional viscoelastic problem

$$u_{\mathrm{tt}}-{\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xx}}-\alpha {\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xxt}}=\mathrm{f},\mathrm{x}\in (-\infty ,0],\mathrm{t}\in [0,+\infty ),$$

with unilateral boundary conditions

$$\mathrm{u}(0,·)⩾0,({\mathrm{u}}_x+\alpha {\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xt}})(0,·)⩾0,\left(\mathrm{u}({\mathrm{u}}_x+\alpha {\mathrm{u}}_{\mathrm{xt}})\right)(0,·)=0,$$

can be reduced to the following variational inequality:

$${\lambda }_1*\mathrm{w}=\mathrm{g}+\mathrm{b},\mathrm{w}⩾0,\mathrm{b}⩾0,\langle \mathrm{w},\mathrm{b}\rangle =0.$$

Here ${\widehat{\lambda }}_1\left(\omega \right)$ is the causal determination of $\mathrm{i}\omega \sqrt{1+\mathrm{i}\alpha \omega }$. We show that the energy losses are purely viscous; this result is a consequence of the relation $\langle \dot{w},\mathrm{b}\rangle =0$; since a priori, b is a measure and $\dot{w}$ is defined only almost everywhere, this relation is not trivial.
